So, Spring has finally arrived! Let's talk about curb appeal.
Whether you are thinking about selling your home or you just want to feel better when you pull in the driveway, there are some simple things you can do that will make a big difference.
1.) Weed and mulch your garden beds.
Even if you don't have any plants in the beds, a weeded and mulched garden bed with a nice crisp edge looks so much better than an overgrown mess of tangled branches. Spend a few hours churning the soil, pulling the weeds, and trimming overgrowth. Then spread 1 inch of mulch on top of any showing soil. If you feel inclined, add some color with some seasonal flowers or perennials that will come back year after year. I consider myself the queen of perennials, I think they are lower maintenance each Spring because they come back and continue to grow. If you're feeling really ambitious, complete the bed with a stone or brick wall where the grass meets the garden bed. All in all, this is probably a half a days worth of work, but it will make a huge difference!

2.) Paint that front door!
Is your front door looking lackluster? Consider painting it a nice, bright, complimentary color. If a bright pop of color isn't your thing, at least clean it and stain or paint if not uniform.

3.) Fertilize your grass.
There is nothing worse than yellow or dead patches of grass, especially on your front lawn! Simple at home repair is as easy as buying some hearty grass seed, sprinkling, and watering daily. If you would like to really make a difference, get a treatment plan from a local fertilization company. They will usually treat from April-October and it will help eliminate those pesky dandelions and encourage lush, green grass growth.

4.) Patch/seal your driveway.
Did your driveway have a rough winter? If there are cracks or divots, have a company come and patch and seal the driveway. It will make a big difference and it will also prevent the damage from getting any worse and more costly to repair.

5.) Spruce up your mailbox.
This year, I painted my dull brown mailbox black, touched up the red flag, attached new reflective numbers, and added a 3 foot garden around it. What a huge difference. I'm happy every time I pull into my driveway. See my photos below:

These are just some simple things that you can do to multiple degrees of difficulty, but even at their most basic level, they will make a big difference.
Happy Spring and good luck!
