This is a part of my "My Favorite Things" series - local finds and hidden gems!

For those of you that know me, you know I am a dog lover and I like to take my Mutt-i-gree Noah out to run around and meet some furry friends whenever I'm not busy making people's home-buying and selling dreams come true!

Below you will find my favorite dog parks in eastern Monmouth County, NJ, in no particular order.

1. Yappy Hour - Wonder Bar, Asbury Park

Okay, maybe this one is in order, because it's my favorite! Yappy Hour is fun for dogs and dog parents alike, combining traditional happy hour with free run and play for dogs. There is a fenced in outdoor bar and picnic table area with umbrellas, wading pools for the pooches, and a sandy area with obstacles for dogs do get out their energy and do their business!

This is a genius play by The Wonder Bar as they've built quite a following. From May to October/November (depending on weather) each year, you can unwind after work or on the weekends and feel no guilt for leaving your best friend at home. Everyone there is a fellow dog lover and the atmosphere is relaxed and fun.

They have special times dedicated only to small dogs and, of course, some rules about your pups' behavior, as well as a strict "no food or toys" policy. Check out their website for all official rules and policies:

Yappy Hour - Wonder Bar - Asbury Park

The Wonder Bar is located at Fifth and Ocean Ave in Asbury Park. Yappy Hour opens May 16th this year, 12pm-6pm.

2. Liberty Park II - Tinton Falls

This is perhaps the most under-utilized dog park I have found. Noah and I are often the only ones there, except maybe one other on occasion. This fully fenced in dog park is located inside Liberty Park II in Tinton Falls.

The space is pretty simple, a large fenced area with two benches and Mutt Mitts for picking up after your dog. Bring Fido here to play fetch and burn off some steam safely. Be sure to bring your own water!

Liberty Park II Dog Park - Tinton Falls

Liberty Park II is located at 1420 West Park Ave in Tinton Falls.

3. Wolf Hill Dog Park - Oceanport

Wolf Hill is home to one of two Off-Leash Dog Parks within the Monmouth County Park System. Within the 4 acres are two separate areas for dog s of all sizes as well as a section for our smaller friends who weigh 35 pounds or less.

Mutt Mitts and garbage cans can be found in both areas, and there are port-o-potties near the parking lot. Bring your own water for your pal!

Wolf Hill Dog Park - Oceanport

Wolf Hill is located at 3 Crescent Place in Oceanport, near the Monmouth Park Racetrack.

4. Thompson Park Off-Leash Dog Area - Lincroft

A lot of people peg this as their favorite dog park in Monmouth County. There are 2 areas - all dogs and small dogs, as well as a dedicated water source for the dogs, Mutt Mitts, and trash bins. The park outside of the dog park is also beautiful and expansive, so if you also enjoy a leashed hike with your pal, this park works great.

Thompson Park Off-Leash Dog Area - Lincroft

Thompson Park Off-Leash Dog Area is located at 805 Newman Springs Rd, Lincroft.

5. 8th Avenue Dog Beach - Asbury Park

If your dog loves to swim, this is the place for you! Dogs are widely accepted year round after 6pm to run, swim, and fetch into the ocean to their hearts content!

Be mindful of the marked boundaries, the beach is not fenced. Bring plenty of water so your pooch doesn't drink all that salt water, and don't forget the sunblock - for you!

From October 1st through May 15th, dogs are allowed on the Boardwalk and on the 8th Avenue Dog Beach all day. During the summer, dogs are welcome between the hours of 6pm - 8:30am.

8th Ave Dog Beach - Asbury Park

8th Avenue Dog Beach is located at 8th Ave and Ocean Ave, Asbury Park.

While these are all of my favorite spots, if there is one I didn't list, I'd love to know about it! Please contact me at: jenna.raines@bhhsnj.com or 732-556-8894.

Please note: I did not include Gateway National Park/Sandy Hook in this post because of their "always-leashed" requirement, and I am looking into the Wannamassa Fireman’s Memorial Park Dog Park!
